Cardcaptor Sakura is a Manga and Anime series made by the company CLAMP. It's about this girl by the name of Sakura Kinomoto who is 10 years old(Entering Gr. 4) and is given the job to save the world. She has to capture these magical cards called the Clow Cards that she released out of it's seal from pure curiosity one day in her basement. With the help of Kerebus, the guardian of the Seal of Clow (Kero for short), the chooser and later on, Yue the judge, and the other guardian, they embark on a journey that changes Sakura's life.
In the first half of the season, Sakura releases the Clow Cards around Japan and needs to collect them back. But Sakura has a rival, Syoran Li, (Li Sharon in English) who thinks that since he is a descendant of Clow Reed and that he should collect the Clow Cards. With the help of Kero, Sakura collects all the cards, and passes the test that the judge, Yue, gave her. She then becomes the Mistress of the Clow Cards.
In the second half of the season, Syoran starts to develop feelings for Sakura. Sakura also gets a new staff, and needs to convert all the Clow Cards into Sakura Cards if she wants to ever wield them again. A new transfer student called Eriol Hiiragizawa (Eli Moon in the English version), a reincarnation of Clow Reed in disguise, helps Sakura change her cards by setting up obstacles that require Sakura to convert cards. In the end of the season, Syoran admits her love to Sakura and goes back to Hong Kong. Eriol then goes back to England.
Cardcaptor Sakura Characters
Sakura Kinomoto- An ordinary young girl who is 10 years old and entering Gr. 4 (For the 1st season). Her mother died when she was very young so now she only lives with her father and brother (Who always likes to pick on her). She is a very talented girl who was chosen to capture the cards (Since she was the one who released them in the first place). In the first half and most of the second half, Sakura has a crush on Yukito, near the end of the series, when Yukito rejects her feelings, Sharon/Li admits his feelings, and Sakura falls in love with him instead. In the last episode, when Sharon was going to return to Hong Kong, Sakura creates a card with a teardrop, a teardrop of sadness because Sharon was leaving for Hong Kong. In the second movie, 4 months after the last battle,when Sharon comes back from Hong Kong, Sakura admits her love to Sharon, since she was too nervous and embarrassed before to say it out loud. Sakura has to capture all the Clow cards in the first half of the series, and in the second half, when she becomes mistress to the cards, she has to convert them into Sakura cards.
Kerebus- Sakura likes to call him Kero instead. He is disguised as an miniature orange - yellow bear with wings. He is much like a plush toy but hates it when people think he is one. Kero is one of the guardians of the Seal of Clow. When Sakura found the book, he was sleeping and apparently he was to sleep for 10 more years. Though he looks too cute to be a guardian, he can be very fierce. In the first half of the series, he wasn't able to the change into his real form because Sakura did not catch the needed card yet. Once Sakura captured the required cards, he was able to transform into his real form, a winged lion/tiger.
Tomoyo Daidoji- A rich young girl who is a Sakura's best friend. Her mom,is Sonomi Daidoji. When Tomoyo found out about Sakura's new power, she started following Sakura whenever Sakura starts capturing or converting a Clow Card. The reason Tomoyo follows Sakura is because she wants to capture every moment of Sakura's power on tape so she can make a movie on it. She also makes all the costumes that Sakura wears when she is on a mission to capture of convert a card. Tomoyo has a beautiful voice, and stars in many musical concerts. In the second half of the season, Tomoyo found out that Sharon had a crush on Sakura, she then starts giving advice to Sharon on Sakura. In the second movie, with Meilen, they try to get Sakura and Sharon to admit their feelings for each other. Tomoyo once said that the one she loved most was Sakura, but fans of this show are not sure if it means sisterly love, or romantic love.
Li Sharon- A decedent of Clow, Sharon was a boy who lived in Hong Kong and traveled to Japan. Sharon has magic powers. In the first half, Sharon was a rival to Sakura in 2 ways, the first was because of the Clow cards, he thinks that since he is related to Clow, he should be capturing the cards, he manages to capture a few cards, but when Sakura became the new mistress, he had to give his cards to her. The other way he was a rival to Sakura was Yukito, in the first half, he seemed to have a crush on him, Sharon would blush madly at the site of Yukito, and would give gifts to him, however, he was engaged to Meilin, a girl from Hong Kong and was forced to do embarssing things in front of everyone, in the second half of the season, his crush for Yukito stops, instead he falls in love with Sakura, but she doesn't notice it. He later breaks the engagement with Meilen, because of his love for Sakura. In the last episode,he goes back to Hong Kong, before he leaves he gives Sakura a teddy bear, as a token of his love.
